Common Questions
How do custom tags differ from auto-classification?
Auto-classification is automatic and focused on PII patterns. Custom tags are anything you define: environment (production, staging), ownership (team-analytics), status (needs-review), or any label your team needs. Both types coexist on the same asset.
Can I tag many assets at once?
Yes. Go to Assets → All Assets, check the assets you want, then use Actions → Add Tag. Bulk removal works the same way. This is the fastest path to tagging a large set of tables by environment or team. Can I route alerts based on tags?
Yes. In alert rules, scope a rule by tag so only tagged assets trigger the rule. This is how teams send production alerts to PagerDuty and development alerts to Slack from the same underlying events. What happens when I delete a tag?
Deletion is permanent and removes the tag from every asset it was applied to. There’s no undo. To temporarily hide a tag without losing data, rename it instead of deleting.Next Steps
